The South Asian Friendship Center is a bookstore and place of friendship for the people of Chicago’s Little India community. SAFC is a welcoming space where tutoring, ESL, youth and kids clubs, women’s lunches and friendship happen. We extend our hand in friendship to the Devon Avenue community in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and love people of all ethnicities and religions.

Devon Avenue
Devon Avenue is home to Chicago's Little India, a commercial and residential neighborhood that stretches from Damen Avenue on the east to California Avenue on the west. Historically, Devon Avenue has undergone a variety of changes in its 140-year history. First built in the 1850s as Church Road, Devon became the main shopping area for Chicago's Jewish community. Today, an influx of new immigrants has added spice to an already colorful neighborhood. There are over 300,000 South Asians from India and Pakistan in Chicago. Other nations represented in this area include Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Afghanistan. Devon Avenue draws South Asians from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin because of the numerous cloth, gold, and video shops, as well as markets and restaurants that cater to South Asian culture and tastes.
